01 Who We Are
UniTix is a student event ticketing platform operated by Myro Concept, a creative studio registered in Nigeria. Our platform connects Nigerian university students with campus events — from parties and concerts to tech summits and cultural festivals.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, "UniTix", "we", "us", and "our" refers to Myro Concept Creative Studio. "You" refers to any person who accesses or uses the UniTix website, mobile platform, or related services.
Our commitment: We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. Full stop.
02 What We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Your name, email address, and phone number when you create an account or purchase a ticket.
- Your university / campus selection and academic level (e.g. 200L), used to personalise your event feed.
- Payment details entered during checkout — these are processed by Paystack and never stored on UniTix servers.
- Event details you submit if you host an event on our platform (name, description, venue, ticket price).
- Messages or enquiries you send to our support team.
Information collected automatically
- Device information — browser type, operating system, and device model.
- Usage data — pages visited, events viewed, buttons clicked, and time spent on the platform.
- IP address and approximate location (city/state level, not precise GPS).
- Referral data — if you arrived via a promoter's referral link, we record which link brought you here.
Information from third parties
- If you sign in via Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
- Paystack may share transaction status (success/fail) with us to confirm ticket purchases.
03 How We Use Your Data
We only use your data for specific, legitimate purposes:
- To provide our service — processing ticket purchases, issuing QR codes, and enabling event check-in.
- To personalise your experience — showing you events at your campus and from artists or categories you've shown interest in.
- To communicate with you — sending your ticket confirmation, event reminders, and platform updates via email or WhatsApp.
- To pay event hosts and promoters — calculating and processing payouts via Paystack.
- To prevent fraud — detecting unusual activity, duplicate ticket attempts, and chargebacks.
- To improve UniTix — analysing aggregate usage data to understand which features students use most.
We will never use your data to send you third-party marketing or share it with advertisers. Any communications we send will be directly about UniTix services or events you've shown interest in.
04 Sharing Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- With event hosts: When you purchase a ticket, the event host receives your name and check-in status — so they can manage their guest list and verify you at the door. They do not receive your payment details or phone number unless you explicitly provide it.
- With Paystack: Your payment information is shared with Paystack (our payment processor) to complete transactions. Paystack is PCI-DSS compliant and subject to their own privacy policy.
- With promoters (limited): If a promoter referred you via their link, we share the aggregate ticket count with them (e.g. "14 tickets sold via your link") — not your name or contact details.
- For legal compliance: If required by Nigerian law, a court order, or a lawful government request, we may disclose information as legally obligated.
- In a business transfer: If UniTix is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred — but you will be notified in advance.
05 Payments & Paystack
All payments on UniTix are processed by Paystack (paystack.com), a leading Nigerian payment gateway. When you enter card or bank details on our checkout, that information goes directly to Paystack's secure servers — UniTix never sees or stores your full card number, CVV, or PIN.
Paystack is certified PCI-DSS Level 1, the highest level of payment security compliance. For more on how Paystack handles your payment data, visit their Privacy Policy at paystack.com/privacy.
UniTix never stores your card details. All payment information is handled entirely by Paystack.
06 Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your campus preference, and understand how students use UniTix.
Types of cookies we use
- Essential cookies: Required for the platform to function — login sessions, shopping cart, QR ticket storage.
- Analytics cookies: We use anonymised analytics to see which events and pages are most popular. No personally identifiable data is used.
- Preference cookies: Remember your campus selection and display settings.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features (like staying logged in) may stop working. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies from third-party ad networks.
07 How Long We Keep Your Data
- Account data: Kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is erased within 30 days.
- Transaction records: Kept for 7 years in line with Nigerian financial regulations (FIRS requirements).
- Event data: Event listings and check-in records are kept for 12 months after the event date, then anonymised.
- Support communications: Messages to our support team are kept for 2 years to help us resolve recurring issues.
08 Your Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the following rights over your personal data:
- Right to access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information.
- Right to deletion: Request that we delete your account and associated personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Right to data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format (e.g. CSV).
- Right to object: Object to how we process your data for certain purposes, including direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

09 How We Protect Your Data
- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot read your password.
- Access to our production database is restricted to a small number of authorised engineers.
- We conduct regular security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
- In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware of it.
10 Minors
UniTix is designed for university students and is intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
11 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email and display a notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
Your continued use of UniTix after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
